Bethany Christian Services in Philadelphia has confirmed that it changed its policies to allow staff to work with same-sex couples interested in fostering children. The move comes after the city stopped placing foster children with Bethany Christian Services and Catholic Social Services because the organizations prohibited the placement of children with same-sex couples. After capitulating, Bethany Christian Services issued a fawning statement: "We appreciate the city's decision to allow Bethany Christian Services to continue to serve foster youth throughout the Philadelphia community." The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Bethany Christian Services has partnered with the Mayor's Office of LGBT Affairs to train staff on "cultural competency for serving individuals and same sex couples who are LGBTQ." Meanwhile, Catholic Social Services continues its legal battle with the city over the matter. The organization has strongly stated that it will not change its policies and argues that city is violating the organization's First Amendment right to act in accordance with Catholic teachings on marriage. The city has not only threatened to stop placing foster children with Catholic Social Services but warned that it would terminate its relationship with the agency altogether. In doing so, it would force the agency to "begin the process of shutting down."

Charen fears that something as innocent as a young child wanting to be called another name in today's LGBT-inclusive culture could lead parents to push their kids into pursuing an identity in the opposite sex and possibly push them down a road of irreversible gender treatment at an age when they are not mature enough to make such drastic life decisions. Statistics from the fifth edition of American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders indicate that the persistence of gender dysphoria in children does not often persist into adulthood.

Last year, the Seventh Circuit, in a breathtaking bit of linguistic and logical contortion, stretched the meaning of the word "sex" to include sexual orientation. More recently, the Second Circuit agreed while the Eleventh Circuit reached the opposite conclusion. Now we have a "conflict in the Circuits," in which the meaning of Title VII depends on where you live. So eventually, the Supreme Court will have to settle the issue. Currently, 29 out of 50 states don't have laws barring "discrimination" on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. In these states, Christians don't face the kind of difficult choices that Jack Phillips and Barronelle Stutzman did. If the Supreme Court agrees with the Seventh and Second Circuits, these twenty-nine states will have such a law imposed on them from above, just like those states that did not recognize same-sex marriage experienced with the Obergefell decision.

An individual recorded Coe on video late last year as he was uttering the demand. Constitutional Coalition CEO Donna Hearne contended that the professor needs to know this is simply not acceptable in America. "You cannot require that, and for him to require shoes [to] be taken off and all of the window dressings of a Muslim just because he wants it – because he feels that it's his right to require that because that's where he stands – that doesn't happen in America," Hearne insisted.

The president announced the nomination of R. Clarke Cooper to serve as Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs. But the announcement left out a more controversial detail from Cooper’s resume: his two-year stint as president of Log Cabin Republicans (LCR), a pro-LGBT group dedicated to diluting and eventually eliminating the GOP’s traditional conservative stances on marriage, homosexuality, and transgender ideology. During Cooper’s 2010-2012 leadership of LCR, the group participated in a lawsuit challenging the military’s former “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy against open homosexuality in the military. A similar controversy is ongoing today, as Trump’s ban on transgender soldiers is currently working its way through the courts. Cooper has launched personal attacks against conservative and Christian groups. Cooper attacked the Boy Scouts of America for excluding homosexual members in accordance with its Christian conception of being “morally straight” (a policy it has since abandoned). In another, he accused the National Organization for Marriage of allegedly “exploit[ing] racial divisions” because the group emphasized minority communities’ opposition to same-sex “marriage.”

The film is directed by Diego Kaplan. I reported it to the FBI and the Department of Justice, who advised me to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Liberal groups welcomed the new restriction on lawyers’ freedom of conscience. The LGBT legal group Lambda Legal supported the rule change in Arizona. It declared that a prosecutor who refers to a transgender defendant using the “wrong” pronoun violates the rule. Louisiana attorney general Jeff Landry disagrees. He issued an opinion that the language violates the First Amendment. It is vague and overly broad. He called the new rules viewpoint discrimination.

The United States was named as the only Western nation among the 10 most dangerous countries for women in a survey of global experts, after the #MeToo campaign triggered a flood of complaints about sexual harassment and assault. The Thomson Reuters Foundation survey asked 550 experts in women's issues which of the 193 United Nations member states they considered most dangerous on a range of issues, with India topping the list followed by Afghanistan and Syria. The United States came 10th overall, but ranked joint third with Syria when respondents were asked where women most risked sexual violence, harassment and coercion into sex, and sixth regarding non-sexual violence such as domestic and mental abuse. Experts, advocates and survivors said a rising awareness of assault against women pegged to the #Metoo movement, the country's outsized role on the world stage and a tolerance of violence added to the perception of danger in the United States.

They are celibate, after a fashion, but they are not virgins; they make sacrifices day after day, but reap no salvation from them, and bring no immortal souls into the world. They might have sex, but no children; thus, they lose the chief glory and merit of the married woman. Once they have a child, they then frequently hand over the burden of childcare to someone else, losing the greatest opportunity and privilege of all, that of nurturing and educating their own offspring.

The court, in a 5-4 ruling, said the state law likely violates the First Amendment. The court also cast doubts on similar laws in Hawaii and Illinois. The state regulations, targeting centers that provide counseling-related services with the goal of helping women make choices other than abortion, demanded such centers prominently post information on how to obtain abortion and contraception. If pregnancy centers fail to comply with the law, they’re fined $500 for a first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense, according to the law.

Antifa has been camping outside the ICE building since last week and effectively shutting down the building. Federal authorities went into the building around 3:30 A.M. Monday to secure the building. Antifa is known to get violent and they are labeled an official domestic terrorist organization. During an August 2017 protest at the University of California, Berkeley, they were recorded in several video clips attacking and injuring individuals they deemed “far-right” or “alt-right,” although there’s no evidence the individuals were associated with such groups and didn’t identify in such a way.

The florist said her arrangements were works of art and that having to create them for a same-sex wedding would violate her freedom of expression. Her lawyer, Kristen Waggoner of the Arizona-based Alliance Defending Freedom, called her "an artist with a conscience who cannot separate her artistic creativity from her soul."
